When working with TGNC/NB people, it is important to consider the multiple identities they hold in order to best support them. This talk, led by Brooke Donatone, Ph.D., LCSW,  NYU Counseling & Wellness Services, will address the complexity of coming out issues when people may have different understandings of what coming out means to them and where/if/how this takes place based on multiple identities.

You’re here! You made the big decision to leave the college you were attending, and you’re now at your dream school – NYU Steinhardt. But even though you’ve been to college before, you may still feel overwhelmed by some things that are new to you at NYU.

Know that you’re not alone. In fact, about 25% of Steinhardt students have transferred in from another college outside or inside of NYU.  NYU Steinhardt’s Office of Student Affairs is enthusiastic about supporting students who are still getting used to navigating life and academics here.

You are invited! Join us for dinner and conversation about life at NYU, NYC, and beyond. Hear from upperclassmen, faculty, and staff who will share info that may help you as you get settled this semester. We’ll have postcards you can fill out to send a message home, and we’ll also take care of the postage! See you there! Be sure to RSVP.

Pless Hall, 3rd Floor Student Lounge
You’re here! You’re the first in your family to go to college, and that is pretty awesome.

You’ve gotten started with typical college things—taking interesting classes, finding friends who you can have fun with, and the all-you-can-eat dessert in the dining halls. But as a first generation student, you may still feel overwhelmed by some things that are new to you and your family.

Know that you’re not alone. In fact, about 25% of Steinhardt students are the first in their family to receive a degree.  NYU Steinhardt’s Office of Student Affairs is enthusiastic about supporting students who may identify with being less familiar with the college-going experience and would like greater support in navigating university life.
