The Upstander Dialogue series is now in its second year and is hosted by the CAS Dean’s Office once each semester to provide all NYU students with an open space to understand and discuss contemporary issues that are important to their experience, modeling civility through conversations and encounters with diverse perspectives on topical but challenging issues led by faculty experts. The structure of the event is simple and student-centric. The evening begins with an introduction to the issue by a faculty facilitator; students will then be led in small groups (10-12 students) by fellow student co-facilitators through a series of discussion questions. We will then come together to share our experiences and opinions as a group.
The Upstander Facebook is populated with relevant essays, articles, etc on the topic in the weeks approaching the Dialogue, to help inform the discussion.
