This is a reminder that the March 12 First Fridays session will be devoted to answering your questions about the funding package that will be in place for new doctoral students beginning in the Fall of 2010. All doctoral students who were admitted in Fall 2009 or earlier will maintain their funding packages as originally offered. No additional benefits may be added (e.g. tuition award in summer), nor may continuing students convert to the new funding plan. A change that will be enacted, however, is that the work requirement will be eliminated in academic year 2010-2011. Students who are hired to work (i.e., teaching as adjuncts, advising, or providing teaching assistance to faculty) must be compensated for such work at the appropriate rate. Dean Halkitis will answer your questions and discuss this in much more detail at the March 12 meeting and strongly advises all students whose funding packages continue to next academic year to attend this meeting. If you have not already done so, RSVP to email@example.com to let us know you’ll attend. Please note that this meeting is for Steinhardt doctoral students only. The meeting will be on Friday March 12 at 12:00 p.m. in the Pless Hall 3rd Floor Lounge. As always, lunch will be served.
