Steinhardt in the News: Celebrating the Resilience (and Marriage) of Bridget Kelly (MA ’06) in the New York Times

Ten years ago, Steinhardt alumna, Bridget Kelly, was raped, shot three times in the back, and left to die in a Texas field.  On the occasion of her marriage to ABC news producer Eric Strauss, Bridget’s father, journalist Michael Kelly, chronicles his daughter’s heartbreaking journey in the New York Times’ Vows column.

“I looked at the room in awe, thinking that no one could have predicted this,” Kelly wrote.

Bridget Kelly, who earned a degree master’s degree in literacy education in Steinhardt’s Department of Teaching and Learning, is a reading specialist at a public elementary school in Brooklyn.  She is a trained volunteer advocate for the Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention program through the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
