Earning a doctorate this week is Angus Shiva Mungal, whose dissertation “Competition or Partnerships? Faculty Perceptions of Alternative and Professionalized Teacher Preparation Programs,” explores how faculty members understand the influences of alternative teacher preparation programs.
“My study focuses on how faculty envision the changes to teacher preparation and the ways that teacher preparation programs are evolving,” Mungal said. “With organizations outside of education schools able to prepare teaching degree candidates and grant masters’ degrees, it is critical to understand how faculty and administrators view the landscape of teacher preparation and how best to prepare highly qualified teachers.”
Mungal presented his research at this year’s American Education Research Association’s annual meeting. He graduates from the Department of Administration, Leadership, and Technology.
