Joe Salvatore Talks to Chuck Scarborough About the Provincetown Playhouse

Chuck Scarborough of New York Nightly News interviewed Joe Salvatore, faculty member and playwright, on the re-opening of the Provincetown Playhouse on March 29th. Watch the video to hear the storied history of the theatre where Bette Davis, Anne Bancroft, and Julie Harris made their stage debuts, and where Eugene O’Neil play “All God’s Chillun Got Wings” created controversy for its frank exploration of interracial marriage.

Since 1998, NYU Steinhardt has used the playhouse as a teaching and performance space for its program in educational theatre.

Salvatore recently directed Plays from the Provincetown Players, a showcase of one-act a plays by Susan Glaspell, Edna St. Vincent Millay, and Eugene O’Neill, as well as an original play that he wrote with Steinhardt students.
