Leslie Brown, Steinhardt’s executive director of financial planning and operations, has been awarded NYU’s 2010 Distinguished Administrator Award. The annual award recognizes a select group of NYU administrators whose performance helps NYU meet it s strategic initiatives and contributes to the attainment of the University’s goals. The award carries a $5,000 honorarium.
In announcing the award to the Steinhardt community, Dean Mary Brabeck wrote: “In her 13 years with the Steinhardt School, Leslie has always displayed impressive leadership qualities to faculty, administrators, and colleagues across the university. Her capacity for hard work is matched by her willingness to run with a problem, to dissect it, examine it, and to come back with multiple solutions. Leslie has a strong staff whose members have been superbly mentored by her and who model her professional behavior—they are customer-oriented, creative, and technically skilled.”
Leslie has served on NYU’s Administrative Management Council, as well as the University’s Finance Systems Task Force and the Re-Engineering Advisory Committee.
Leslie is currently a member of Team In Training, a sports endurance training program for novices which benefits the fundraising campaign of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. “Team in Training helped me train for my two triathlons,” Leslie says. “It’s a really good cause, and endurance is a really useful skill to acquire if you are going to work at NYU!”
