The NYU Core Curriculum (CORE)

CORE is a set of general education requirements that immerse students in comparative, critical, exploratory, and interdisciplinary studies and seeks to build students' knowledge base through sequentially-designed courses in the liberal arts. The Core Curriculum represents the essence of the American tradition of liberal arts education – the humanities, arts, social sciences, mathematics, and the natural sciences – areas of inquiry that are pursued for the sake of expanding human knowledge, rather than as training for a particular profession.

Steinhardt undergraduate students may use NYU study away course work to satisfy the Core Curriculum according to the below Core Curriculum Equivalency Designations.

Global Academic Center Equivalencies

Students and advisors are encouraged to utilize the study away core equivalencies Google Sheet for courses at the Academic Centers (access with your NYU email). Please note, this list is not exhaustive of all courses at the Academic Centers and only includes courses which have received a Core Equivalency designation.

Please speak with your academic advisor if you have any questions regarding Core equivalencies and your course of study.

A comprehensive list of study away courses is available on the NYU Global website.
