  • Owen Gottlieb
I chose this Doctoral Program Because:
of the opportunity to study with both scholars in Jewish Studies and also the many world-class scholars in the other departments of NYU including Education Communication & Technology, to Anthropology, to Media Culture & Communication. The opportunity to tailor an interdisciplinary program means that I can focus my approach to Education and Jewish Studies through a digital media and learning lens.
My academic passion is:
Digital Media and Learning/Popular Culture and Education
In 5 or 10 years I hope to:
Be teaching the beauty of Jewish Civilization through Digital Media and helping others to do so, as well
One of the things I enjoy doing in New York City when I'm not being a doctoral student:
Bike in Prospect Park
My favorite place to get coffee or eat around NYU:
Focus of my research of scholarship:
Digital Media and Learning/Popular Culture and Education
I'm interested in this topic because:
today's vernacular is digital media and public culture
Academic or other experience that most influenced my choice of doctoral study:
a diverse background in software development, film and television writing, and education lead me to the program - a place to tie all of these passions together
Favorite course as a doctoral student:

What I like most about being part of a community of doctoral students:
a shared passion for learning, colleagues who ask great questions
