Doctoral Student Spotlights

Anne Bezbatchenko

Higher and Postsecondary Education

I chose this Doctoral Program Because:
I chose to pursue a Ph.D. in Higher and Postsecondary Education at NYU Steinhardt because of the breadth of research interests among the faculty members, the robust size of the department, the location in vibrant Soho, and the career opportunities within New York City as well as the tri-state area. I might add that their unique study abroad programs piqued my interest as well!
My academic passion is:
the intersection of higher education and social issues
One of the things I enjoy doing in New York City when I'm not being a doctoral student:
venturing to new restaurants in various pockets of NYC
Focus of my research of scholarship:
students' attitudes and behaviors related to environmental sustainability
I'm interested in this topic because:
I believe it is and will continue to be an issue of critical importance in the years and decades to come
Professor who has influenced me the most:
Robert Teranishi, my adviser
Favorite course as a doctoral student:
Global Issues in Higher Education: Israel
What I like most about being part of a community of doctoral students:
the support I can receive and give to my fellow doctoral students/friends
