Maung Ting Nyeu

Maung Nyeu leads the Child Direct Assessment group at Global TIES for Children, New York University. He is the founder and executive director of Our Golden Hour, an organization committed to extending educational opportunities for children in marginalized communities and underserved areas. He is an award-winning author of sixteen children’s books and multilingual picture dictionaries. BBC World Service nominated him as one of the fifty most inspiring stories. He also co-authored books published by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. His research interests include Indigenous knowledge and ways of knowing, culturally responsive pedagogy, climate justice, artificial intelligence, child development, and language revitalization. Maung Nyeu’s work has been featured in the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Harvard Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute, Harvard Peabody Museum, the United Nations, Smithsonian Institution, and the National Geographic Society. He is an advisor to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization on Indigenous issues. Maung served as an invited speaker in many institutions, including Brown University, Harvard Medical School, UNESCO, Louisiana State University, Tufts University, Emory University, Peabody Museum, University of Vancouver, New York University, and Harvard Graduate School of Education.  Maung teaches at Harvard University and New York University.  He also served as a coach in leadership and organizing at the Kennedy School of Government. Maung obtained a doctorate from Harvard University.
