Ayanna Taylor has over 24 years of experience teaching, leading, and coaching in urban public school districts and charter schools. She has served as a secondary English teacher, department chair, coach, and a charter school developer. She is the founder and president of ACCESS Educational Advisors, a small business that provides support to schools and individuals. Ayanna teaches in Steinhardt's on-campus and residency programs, including the NYU Teacher Residency Program, a national teacher residency. She holds a BA in English Literature from The University of Pennsylvania, and a Master's in Public Administration from Rutgers University. Ayanna's interests include building classroom cultures that support student achievement for all students, culturally responsive teaching, and the history of early 20th Century independent schools founded by African Americans. Ayanna's community service includes membership on the Warren Township, NJ Board of Education, Teach For America-NJ's Education Policy Advisory Committee, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
