Anna Stielau is a writer and recovering art historian. Her research focuses on race, visual culture, and the politics of time on the African continent and in its art worlds, with a particular interest in the relationship between entrenched colonialisms and verbal and photographic tense in South Africa. She holds undergraduate and Masters degrees in art from the Michaelis School of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town, where she also taught practice and theory. Her writing has been published in popular and academic venues including Art Africa, The Mail and Guardian, and The Postcolonialist.
