Teachers of World Languages Invited to Join Free Summer Institute

The Department of Teaching and Learning and The NYS Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network housed at The Metro Center are co-sponsoring two summer institutes for teachers of world languages.  The multiday institutes are free of charge and participants will be eligible for Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CLTE) professional development hours.  The NYS Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network is an approved Sponsor of CTLE hours pursuant to Section 80-6 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education.

The summer institutes provide an opportunity for teachers of World Languages to engage and collaborate with colleagues from across NYS in exploring best practices in instructed second language acquisitions,” said Rosa Pietanza, Retired Clinical Assistant Professor of Teaching Learning.  This professional development opportunity has been offered annually since 2016. Separate institutes will be held for new teachers of world languages (July 10-12)and those with more than four years of experience (July 8-9).  Participants must be able to fully participate on all programming days.  The application deadline is May 17, 2019.
