"Softly: Music of Morton Feldman" Recommended by The New Yorker

Softly: Music of Morton Feldman, Piano Studies director Marilyn Nonken's four-part concert and film series, was a critic's pick in the September 17 issue of The New Yorker. Steve Smith wrote, "Feldman was a big, brusque Queens native, known for music of unearthly stillness and delicacy—and, in his later years, extensive duration. The exemplary pianist Marilyn Nonken, the architect of this weekend tribute, opens proceedings with the ninety-minute Triadic Memories, and is later joined by the cellist Stephen Marotto in a closing rendition of the only slightly more compact Patterns in a Chromatic Field. Between those poles are programs devoted to brief compositions by Feldman and short films about him."

New Yorker music critic Alex Ross also recommended Softly: Music of Morton Feldman on his blog, The Rest is Noise.
