Maria Hodermarska Receives NADTA Teaching Excellence Award

Professor Maria Hodermarska is the recipient of the 2017 Teaching Excellence Award from the North American Drama Therapy Association. The award is given annually "to an NADTA member in recognition of outstanding dedication to education in the field of drama therapy through teaching and mentorship." She will be presented with the award at the organization's 38th Annual Conference, October 26–29 in Danvers, Massachusetts.

The NADTA Board chose Professor Hodermarska from a pool of candidates nominated by fellow NADTA members. These are excerpts from the nominations that brought her to the Board's attention:

"Maria works tirelessly and her efforts go largely under recognized. So essential is she to the running of the Drama Therapy Program at New York University, to the mentoring of the Graduate Students, and these past years as Interim Director of the Graduate Program that it hard to imagine the daily operation and running of the graduate school without Maria’s contributions."

"Her high standards, dedication to research, funding and programing keep NYU the strong training ground and leader in our profession."

"Maria is well respected and raises the caliber of study, ethics and clinical proficiencies we as Drama Therapists strive to maintain. Maria’s contributions are worthy of much more than honors and praise and she is in many ways deserving of recognition by the NADTA."
