Notice Regarding Time Off Balances

To All,

As we approach the 'core' vacation period and the end of the academic year, please be advised that your unused time balances may be lost. Specifically, 'Personal Time' cannot be carried over into the next academic year and will be lost unless used by August 31, 2013. Additionally, only half of your annual vacation accrual can be carried over into the next academic year. Any time in excess of this amount will be lost on August 31, 2013.
Your annual vacation accrual depends on your length of service:

  • Employees with less than 15 years of service accrue 22 days (154 hours) of vacation time per academic year and may carry over a maximum of 11 days (77 hours).
  • Employees with 15 or more years of service accrue 25 days (175 hours) of vacation time per academic year and may carry over a maximum of 13 days (91 hours).

Check myTime to determine whether you are impacted by these policies. In the example below, we skipped ahead to August using the calendar at the top left corner then clicked on the 'Time off Balance' tab at the bottom of the screen. On August 31st, 126.00 hours will be debited in order to bring the balance down to 77.00 hours -- the maximum this employee can carry over. Keep in mind that this 126.00 hours may also include scheduled vacation time. Click on 'Show Details' for a complete explanation as to how myTime arrived at the 126.00 hour figure.

Therefore, you should monitor your leave balances carefully and plan your vacation time accordingly. Finally, please remember that you are responsible for recording all time off in myTime; failure to record time taken may lead to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
