Study Developmental Disabilities in Ghana this January

Study Abroad with Professor Anita Perr

This multidisciplinary, 3-credit study abroad program, which runs from January 5 - 18, 2014, examines disability in Ghana within a different cultural context.

You’ll visit a variety of settings to observe the participation of children and adults with disabilities in health and school settings, learning from people with disabilities and those who work with them. Discussions of environmental and contextual issues that limit the individuals’ ability to participate in activities will take place, as well as identification of cultural assets in addressing the needs of those with developmental disabilities. Guest lectures by local experts are also planned.

To take advantage of the surroundings, trips to local educational facilities and cultural sites of interest will be planned.

This program is open to current NYU graduate students, non-NYU graduate students, and professionals who are not enrolled at an academic institution.

Application Deadline: Sunday, November 3, 2013
