McIlwain Discusses Race, Sex on Television

The TV Guide Channel's upcoming documentary about Sex on Television will feature interviews with Charlton McIlwain, Associate Professor of Media, Culture, and Communication. In particular, McIlwain discusses the role that race has played in depictions of nudity and sexuality in television movies, sitcoms, dramas, and variety shows from the 1950's up through the present. The two-part segment airs Sunday, August 15, beginning at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time on the TV Guide Channel.

McIlwain is the author of Race Appeal: How Candidates Invoke Race in U.S. Political Campaigns (Temple, Jan. 2011) and The Routledge Companion to Race & Ethnicity (Routledge, Jan. 2011). He is also an investigator for The Project on Race in Political Communication which explores the intersection of race, politics and language.
