Dee Merian, Class of '78, Publishes Memoir Entitled "Flying High"

Writer Dee Merian, Steinhardt class of 1978, has worked as a TWA air hostess, dietitian, nurse, New York City food broker, and college professor. She writes non-fiction stories which were observed during her many occupations.

In addition to earning a master's degree at Steinhardt, Merian holds a Certificate from Iowa University Writers Workshop. Currently she is a member of the South Carolina Film Department and a grant recipient from The Beaufort County Arts Council. The grant will go toward Merian's next project, a book focusing on the women's professional education movement during the 1960's.

Merian has written a number of short stories for Fry media, Southern Family Magazine, 1,000 Things to do on Hilton Head, and Hilton Head Island Writers. She received acclaim for her short story Patrick and Me, a tale about author Patrick Dennis.

Merian is a DTM of Toastmasters International Speakers and often gives lectures about the subject of her books.
