Performance Opportunities Throughout New York City
Our resident ensembles – The Quintet of the Americas, The New Hudson Saxophone Quartet, and the NYU New Music Ensemble – offer extraordinary opportunities to interact and perform with leading instrumentalists and artists. Six chamber music concerts each year offer opportunities for you to play in quintets, quartets, and trios as well as with other mixed ensembles taught by our leading chamber music faculty. The NYU Symphony and Philharmonia orchestras present several concerts each year, including performances by concerto competition winners. Orchestral experiences are also available through fully staged opera, music theatre productions, and recording studio dates and film scoring projects produced by leading Broadway and major opera company music directors. You will present recitals in your junior and senior years.

Dual Degree Option: BM Music Performance/MA Music Education

We also offer a dual degree that allows you to earn a bachelor of music in composition or performance and a master of arts in music education in only five years. You can take courses towards your graduate degree during your junior and senior years, then complete the MA in one additional year of study, becoming eligible for New York State initial certification as a teacher of music, grades K-12. See more information about this dual degree and how to apply.
