David Lopez

Project Associate, TAC-D

David Lopez has dedicated himself professionally to Urban Education, beginning with his national service as an AmeriCorps member through City Year in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles and North Philadelphia. He later served as the Special Education Coordinator for an elementary school in the South Bronx, where he worked with students most at risk of suffering from disproportionate suspensions and over identification of special education services. It was then that he discovered his passion for training teachers and families on how to navigate special education services, specifically around English Language Learners and the IEP process. David received his M.A. in Educational Leadership, Politics, and Advocacy from NYU Steinhardt and his B.A. in Political Science from Haverford College. He currently resides in his home borough, the Bronx.
