27th Symposium on Children and Youth Literature & Book Fair

Instituto Cervantes of New York celebrates the XXVII Symposium on Children and Youth Literature on Friday, June 1, 2018. In this edition, our guest is Antonio García Teijeiro, National Prize for Children's and Young Adult Literature winner, 2017 for his book Poemar el mar.

The Children's Book Fair, organized in parallel to the symposium, brings together these publishers and distributors: Apila, Ekaré, Grupo SM, Lectorum, Youth, Santillana USA, CHAU, LUNA! and Toon Books.

Opening remarks.

9:45 am - 10:45 am
Poemar el mar.
Antonio García Teijeiro, 2017 National Prize for Children´s and Young Adult Literature, will present his work and his biography.

10:45 am – 12:00 pm
Poetry in the classroom, lecture by Antonio García Teijeiro, followed by questions from the audience.


12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Lunch. Break to visit the Book Fair.

1:30 pm - 2:15 pm
The educational value of poetry. Antonio García Teijeiro in conversation with Alicia Martínez Crespo, Head of studies of the Instituto Cervantes and Pablo Larraguibel, of Ediciones Ekaré.

2:15 pm – 2:30 pm
Illustrated books of poetry that invite you to enjoy the word and rhythm. Pablo Larraguibel, Ediciones Ekaré.

2:30 pm- 3:15 pm
Workshop, with María Ahmad, Instituto Cervantes teacher.

Children´s and Young Adult Literature in the Instituto Cervantes Electronic Library.
