MS in Applied Statistics for Social Science Research

A Program to Fit Your Goals

You'll gain a strong foundation in quantitative methods and statistical research techniques, and apply the skills you learn to address policy issues and social problems through a paid internship and consulting research seminar. You'll also work closely with faculty on research projects. Study full or part time. An accelerated, lower-credit option for advanced students is offered.

Choose Your Concentration

Tailor your studies to your interests — choose from concentrations in Data Science for Social Impact, Computational Methods, or General Applied Statistics. The Data Science for Social Impact concentration is one of the first in the world to focus on the real-world challenges of using data to inform policy and practice.

Prepare for a career as an applied statistician and data scientist in the private or public sector, working in fields such as psychology, education, political science, public policy, media research, or healthcare. Or prepare for doctoral study. Our students are eager to apply their knowledge to do good in the world, especially in urban environments like New York City.
