Susan Fairchild, PhD, MPH, joined New Visions for Public Schools in 2009 as the Director of Data Analysis and Applied Research. She supervises the development of results reports designed to convey student performance data to a wide variety of audiences; and, she oversees the implementation of a state-of-the art student information platform in 76 NYC schools to help facilitate school responsiveness to student need and regulatory requirements. Fairchild brings 19 years of experience in education, health and social science research. She received her Ph.D. from New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development with a focus on teacher workforce issues and survey methods. While working on her doctorate, Fairchild served as the program director at NYU's College of Nursing for a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation-funded study examining the career trajectories of newly licensed nurses. Fairchild received her MPH from Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health. From 1991 until 2001 she worked on various health-related research projects for Hebrew Home for the Aged, Columbia University and New York University. From 2001 until 2003, she served as a program director at The Epsilon Group, an international healthcare consulting organization, managing multi-country, longitudinal oncology studies. Her expertise is in the design and development of infrastructure that supports educational and social science research.
