In line with guidance from health authorities, as of 3/5/2020 all classes, activities, operations, and events at NYU’s Washington Square and Brooklyn campuses are continuing to run as scheduled. In the event that current circumstances change, it is important that faculty are prepared to adapt instruction as necessary and take the appropriate actions for maintaining academic continuity.
As part of our preparedness plan, we’ve assembled a Faculty Remote Instruction Toolkit with instructional approaches and links to existing NYU resources.
We ask that faculty begin taking the following steps utilizing the Toolkit:
- Create a plan for modifying their in-person courses to an alternative delivery model, following the same priority guidelines as above.
- Create a strategy for planned modifications, identifying any resource needs and barriers.
- Familiarize themselves with available strategies, tools, and supports.
Additionally, NYU has the following resources available:
- Asynchronous Instruction for Faculty
- Synchronous Instruction for Faculty
- Remote Instruction for Students
The Steinhardt Faculty Readiness Guide outlines how to plan and prepare, including how to ensure that faculty have the required technology with the right features activated to continue instructional activities from a distance. Additionally, NYU has enabled the Zoom video conferencing tool in all Spring 2020 course sites, which now includes the automatic ability to record.
Please encourage students to continue to follow NYU’s current health and wellness guidelines and Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information until further notification.
