Contemporary Health Services in the UK: An Experiential Approach: CSCD.UE.9650
In this course, you’ll experience a mix of didactic coursework and site visits, which will emphasize comparisons between the US and UK health care systems.
- Conduct observations of clinical sites in the metropolitan London area.
- Participate in guest lectures, tour facilities, and conduct observations of clinical services across disciplines such as:
- speech language pathology
- audiology
- counseling/psychological services
- nursing
- art, music, or drama therapy
- physical or occupational therapy
- special education
- Learn from seminar discussions that focus on the role of the interdisciplinary team in treating individuals with various disorders, and provide an introduction to the practice of health fields specific to the UK including:
- training of professionals
- types of clinical settings and services available to various client populations
- attitudes toward disability
- the national priorities and allocation of health care resources in the UK
