A two week intensive course that explores “City Food and Sustainability” in India. Integrating the study of food systems and culture, the course seeks to unpack a range of topics, from the politics of street food vending and cosmopolitan cultures of consumption to waste and water management, organic farming and biodiversity, among other topics. You will be fully immersed in India’s urban food cultures through conversations with local experts and a variety of field trips to sites such as markets, farms, temples and restaurants.

2017 Housing Fees: $700 2017 Activity Fees: $700 Housing and Activity fees are billed through the Bursar and will be due in accordance with the Bursar Spring 2017 billing schedule. International airfare to and from the program location is not included in the program fee. Students must purchase their own round-trip tickets and are responsible for their own accommodation for travel beyond the program dates. Participants must arrive in New Delhi and arrange for departure from Bhubaneshwar. Student will be notified when to book flights. We recommend comparing tickets on multiple sites to ensure the best fare. Flight, Travel, and Visa Information: |
Flight: Students book their own travel to coincide with program dates. Students should arrange travel to arrive in New Delhi on January 3 and depart Bhubaneshwar on January 17. Please note that arrival and departure locations are not the same. There are frequent domestic flights from Bhubaneshwar to most major cities in India. Passport: All program participants are required to have a valid passport, which must be valid at least six months beyond the program end date. Visa: US citizens require a valid passport and valid Indian visa to enter and exit India for any purpose. All other passport holders should check with their respective visa requirements.
