Occupational Therapy Expands Global Offerings

ShanghaiThe Department of Occupational Therapy will launch a new program this summer in partnership with NYU Shanghai.  Internationally renowned NYU Occupational Therapy faculty will teach two courses at NYU Shanghai's new Pudong campus.  Both courses are open to current students who wish to study abroad, incoming Post-Professional Master's students and practicing professionals.  Participants can earn up to 6 credits studying Sensory Processing Challenges and Opportunities: A Focus on Autism and/or Advanced Hand & Upper Quadrant Evaluation and Intervention.  Newly admitted international students requiring additional English language study may also choose to take courses at The American Language Institute (ALI) at NYU Shanghai.

Curriculum Spotlight: Prof. Moore Fosters International Connectivity with Tech-Enhanced Course

MooreCatherine Moore, Clinical Associate Professor of Music Business, has collaborated with the school’s instructional technology team to create a new tech-enhanced version of the Global Music Trend Analysis course.  In this course, Prof. Moore provides instruction from Washington Square to undergraduate students studying away at NYU global sites.  The course uses NYU Classes, NYU Stream, Google Chat and Hangout features, and Blue Jeans video conferencing to guide students as they research the music industry in their various locations and compare findings with classmates across the globe.  We interviewed Prof. Moore to learn more about her efforts to internationalize the curriculum with instructional technology.

Steinhardt Introduces Four New Study Away Opportunities

SummerNYU Steinhardt will offer 20 summer study away opportunities including new programs in ChinaIrelandItaly and South Africa.  Participants may earn 3 to 6 credits while studying intensively with NYU faculty in one of fourteen locations.

Alumni Spotlight: Danielle Butin Creates Foundation to Reduce Waste at Home and Promote Health Abroad

ButinButin graduated from NYU Steinhardt with a BS in Occupational Therapy in 1985.  She was drawn to Occupational Therapy because of its holistic approach to disabilities; pairing clinical expertise with individualized evaluation and intervention.  After graduating, Butin worked for many years as an occupational therapist serving older adults and later went on to complete her MPH at Columbia University.  She is now Founder and Executive Director of Afya Foundation, a medical supply recovery organization launched in 2007.

NYU Prague Launches Academic Internship Program


In Spring 2016 NYU Prague will launch a semester-long academic internship program that will allow undergraduate students to earn credit while deepening their understanding of culture and professional life in the Czech Republic.  Interested students may choose to participate in for-credit or non-credit internships in education, journalism, music business, music technology, and the non-profit sector.  In addition to internship opportunities, NYU Prague offers a broad array of courses in art, architecture, film, media, music, photography, politics, business, the humanities, and social science.
