Physical Therapy

My name is GREG XIN-GONG GAO, MD, Dipl.Ac., L.Ac., PT, DPT, ABDA., an Orthopaedic Surgery from the P.R of China. I have received the following professional certifications, degrees, and licenses in America as: American National Board Certified in Acupuncture, New York State Licensed Acupuncturist, Doctor of Physical Therapy, New York Stated Licensed Physical Therapist, and American Board of Senior Disability Analyst & Diplomat.

My teaching experiences include, but not limited to: clinic human anatomy lectures with cadaver dissection labs, applied anatomy and physiology of the musculoskeletal system, and clinical pathology of the musculoskeletal system. Moreover, my expertise also includes exercise physiology, fitness theory and practice, applied anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular and pulmonary systems as well as the genito-urinary, integumentary, endocrine, immune, and gastrointestinal systems, clinical pathology of the neuromuscular system, and physical therapy examination of the cardiovascular and pulmonary systems. In addition, I am a forward-thinking professional and am eager to be involved in professional activities internationally whenever the opportunity occurs. I was appointed as the International Rehab Specialist Adviser by the Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine in 2012 and have written the chapter for the ankle and foot section for the kinesiology text book for the Rehab Therapy Department of Kunming Medical School in China. I am also invited as visiting professor at multiple rehabilitation education programs of Medical Schools in the P. R of China.

Prior to my full-time Clinical Assistant Professor appointment at NYU, I have been teaching as an adjunct assistant professor in the Physical Therapy Program at NYU Steinhardt and the Physical Therapy Program at the Graduate Center/Hunter College/CUNY and have had more than a decade of combined teaching experiences in these physical therapy programs. I have received Certificate of Appreciation for 10 years of exemplary service to the faculty and students of the Department of physical therapy at Hunter College / City University of New York in June of 2017.
