Sociodrama provides an exciting action forum for problem-solving and values exploration. Less personal than psychodrama, it focuses on collective role aspects and issues. As illustrated in Sociodrama: Who’s in Your Shoes?, co-authored by Dr. Garcia, this workshop will show you how to structure and facilitate a sociodrama. You will have hands-on practice directing sociodrama enactments and experiencing how to keep the contract clearly sociodramatic. You will also learn action methods to use in settings where psychodrama may be inappropriate, such as in businesses, schools and religious institutions.

Objectives

  1. Participants will be able to structure a sociodrama
  2. Participants will be able to facilitate a sociodrama
  3. Participants will be able to identify at least two possible applications for sociodrama in varied contexts.
