Dr. Mehmet Ali Yilik will present an overview of the basic components of the higher education system in Türkiye, including types of institutions and the role of government. Included will be a discussion of access to higher education and the admissions system; demographics of current students; career aspirations and labor market outcomes. He will also discuss his current research about micro credentials within the context of higher education involving the experiences and interpretations of key stakeholders. 

Mehmet holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration and Planning from Türkiye’s top research-intensive university - Middle East Technical University. He studies higher education policy with a specialization in university-industry relations, higher education management, internationalization of higher education, and sociology of education. Dr. Yilik is funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye and will be studying micro-credentials and their roles in higher education and industry.
