Dido & Aeneas offers a stunning combination of music drama inseparably entwined with exquisite choral writing and evocative physical movement. Virgil’s fateful story of the abandoned Queen of Carthage, versified by the poet Tate, culminates in Purcell’s masterful "When I Am Laid in Earth," one of the most moving arias in all of opera.
