John D. Wilson studied piano, composition, and musicology at Baylor University and at the University for Music and Performing Arts, Vienna. The recipient of multiple grants from the Austrian Science Fund (FWF), he has established himself as a leading authority on Beethoven. His current and future projects include the books Young Beethoven, Beethoven in Context (Cambridge 2021) and the multivolume series “Music at the Bonn Electoral Court” (Bonn 2018–2021). He is also the author of articles on Beethoven for the Oxford Bibliographies Online and Grove Music Online (with Erica Buurman, planned for 2023).

Presented as part of the Beethoven the Contemporary festival.
