Video Games:Culture and Industry

Examines the emergence of video games as sites of contemporary cultural production and practice. Special attention is given to the symbolic and aesthetic dimensions of video games, including their various narratives forms and sub-genres, and concentrates on their interactive dimensions. The course provides insight into the emerging trends in the interface between humans and media technologies. The course also situates video games within the business practices of the entertainment industries.
