Research Description/Bio:

Sophia Bolt is a first year doctoral student in the Sociology of Education program. Her research interests surround the education of teachers, teaching for social justice, and the schooling experiences of minority, immigrant, and low-income youth in the United States.

Before beginning her doctoral studies, Sophia received her undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of San Diego. She has worked as a teacher’s aide in several schools in the San Diego area and is excited at the opportunity to do research in schools in New York City. She is currently serving as a Research Intern for the Center for Strategic Solutions at NYU’s Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools.
