Mike Amezcua is Assistant Professor of History and Urban Studies at New York University.

Professor Amezcua's research and teaching interests include modern U.S. history and Latinx studies, along with urban, cultural, and political history. His work emphasizes race and immigration in the study of metropolitan landscapes, segregation, gentrification, and spatial contestation. His most recent article was published in the Journal of American History entitled, "Beautiful Urbanism: Gender, Landscape, and Contestation in Latino Chicago’s Age of Urban Renewal."

Prior to NYU, Amezcua was Assistant Professor of History at the University of Notre Dame. He has earned numerous fellowships and awards including a University of California Chancellor's Postdoctoral Fellowship at UC San Diego in 2013-2014.
