Alumni from the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences work in a variety of education-related fields in the US as well as abroad – from New York City to San Francisco, from Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, and Paris to Florence, Tel Aviv, Shanghai, and Tokyo!

Alumni of the Education and Jewish Studies master's and doctoral program are prepared to work in Jewish day or supplementary schools, seminaries and colleges of Jewish studies, bureaus of Jewish education or a national or local Jewish educational organization, as well as foundations. Recent placements include Abraham Joshua Heschel School, Jewish Education Service of North America, American Jewish University, and the Jim Joseph Foundation.

Education and Social Policy alumni work as data and technical analysts and policy researchers in schools, reform organizations, foundations and nonprofit organizations; government education policy agencies; research organizations; and advocacy or single interest organizations. Alumni are currently in places such as MDRC, Teach for America, Sesame Workshop, and the New York City Department of Education. 

Alumni of the master's program in International Education work in a multitude of offices around the globe including the Institute of International Education, Asia Society, One-to-World, International Student Offices at various higher education institutions, U.S. Department of State, International Rescue Committee, Catholic Charities, and USAID.  Graduates of our doctoral program are in tenure-track positions in places such as the University of Virginia and American University; while others are the directors of international programs offices and centers for global study.

Sociology of Education alumni are prepared for careers in education research and evaluation, education policy, government agencies, and youth and community service organizations. Many are also well-equipped to pursue and succeed in doctoral-level work in the sociology of education or a related field. Alumni of the master's program are working at places such as the Roosevelt Institute, the NYC Department of Education and Prep-for-Prep.
