Guideline: Pets in NYU Steinhardt Facilities

The intent of this School guideline is to maintain NYU Steinhardt as a productive, safe, and clean environment in which to work, study, conduct research, and visit. This guideline applies to all persons (faculty, staff, students, and visitors) at all times and in all Steinhardt facilities.

The presence of pets in Steinhardt classrooms, work areas, and research areas can be disruptive as well as unsanitary; they may compromise the safety and health of students, faculty, staff, and visitors and may expose the School to legal liability.

Bringing pets into any Steinhardt facility is, therefore, prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, private offices, classrooms, and all work and research areas, without regard to the area's accessibility by others.

This guideline does not apply to service animals. For more on service animals, see the Service and Assistance Animal Guidelines.
