Pamela Morris, BA, MA, PhD
Vice Dean for Research and Faculty Affairs
Pless Hall
82 Washington Square East, 4th Floor

Vice Dean Pamela Morris will lead a portfolio of institutional efforts to sustain a culture of excellence among Steinhardt’s faculty.  Her areas of responsibility will include research administration, faculty affairs, and faculty development.  She will serve as the primary point of contact for Steinhardt department chairs on research issues and faculty affairs, center and institute directors, and faculty governance.  As of Spring 2015, Dean Morris is currently phasing into her role while a national search is conducted for her successor as director of the Institute for Human Development and Social Change

Dean Morris has conducted more than a decade of research working at the intersection of social policy and developmental psychology, testing promising interventions for low-income families ranging from antipoverty initiatives to early childhood interventions.  Examples of her current work include large-scale randomized experiments of enhancements to preschool, work with NYCs Department of Education to strengthen the research architecture in the context of their historic Pre-k expansion, and the study of an integrated primary/secondary parenting intervention within the population-scalable pediatric care platform.  A former William T. Grant scholar, Morris has served on a number of boards, including the National Academy of Science’s Board on Children, Youth, and Families. She received a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and a doctorate in Developmental Psychology from Cornell University.
