Course Description: This course examines family-centered practice and the implications for families with children with special needs. A family resilience framework is used to understand the factors that contribute to family adaptation and good child outcomes. These factors include cultural context, family life cycle, stressors, resources, beliefs and family process. Best practices, barriers and strategies to implement family-centered services will be identified through policy analysis, research evidence and clinical experience.
