Music Theatre Advanced Performance Intensive

Dates: January 9 - January 21, 2012
Days: Monday through Friday the first week, and Tuesday through Saturday the second week (in observance of the Martin Luther King Day holiday).

The Vocal Performance Program in the Steinhardt School’s Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions offers a two-week intensive workshop during which advanced singers – graduate students and professionals – explore the techniques of music theatre performance with a focus on the amalgamation of vocal technique and acting technique. The workshop employs individual instruction in a group setting supported by private coaching sessions with a musical director/coach. (Additional private coaching sessions are also available as an additional course.)
In addition to current NYU students, the workshop is open to voice students studying music at the graduate level at other universities as well as industry professionals. (Students in their 4th year of undergraduate voice study are also encouraged to apply.)

Housing
All NYU participants are eligible to stay in New York University double-occupancy housing during the two-week period of the course. For more information please contact NYU Housing Meal plans are not available. Non-matriculated students are responsible for their housing arrangements, and can find more information on the Registrar's Website.
Costs
Tuition: $1,314 per point plus registration and services fees. Please note: For current NYU students this course counts toward your Spring 2012 course load and tuition.
Audition Materials
If you would like to be considered for the workshop you must submit the following:
- a brief letter of intent explaining why you are interested in taking the workshop
- a résumé of your educational and performance background
- a recent photograph
- a video tape (VHS format only) or DVD of you singing two contrasting songs
- Please be sure to include your phone number, your mailing address, and your e-mail address as well as the name of your school and your year of study.
