Resource Coordinator
The Children First Intensive (CFI) in the Office of Achievement Resources (OAR) at the New York City Department of Education designs and implements professional development sessions for instructional leadership throughout the city. During the 2011-12 school year, this professional development has focused on improving student learning and achievement through the implementation of the Common Core Learning Standards and on initiatives to improve teacher practice, specifically through the implementation of a research-based teaching framework.
The Resource Coordinator will:
- Remain current on the professional development sessions described above through attendance at the sessions and participation on relevant committees/working groups.
- Support OAR in
disseminating CFI professional development opportunities by
- Revising CFI activities to meet the needs of school-based personnel;
- Collaborating with members of the Achievement Support Initiatives (ASI) team, which delivers professional development opportunities directly to teachers, to develop workshop material/activities;
- Contributing to the development of online learning modules.
- Liaise with members of the CFI Seminars and CFI Lab/Learning Sites to determine activities appropriate for school-based personnel and revise/craft with a school audience is mind.
- Ensure that all disseminated materials meet criteria established for formatting, grammar, etc.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in education
- Experience designing and implementing professional development for educators
- Classroom teaching experience
Preferred:
- Experience with performance-based assessments
- Experience with curriculum design
- Knowledge of the Common Core Learning Standards
- Experience with proofreading/editing
This is a consulting position within the DOE. Consultants earn a daily rate that is competitive and commensurate with experience. The position can either be for a full-time (35 hours per week) or part-time consultant.
