Flor Khan is a writer and poet from Los Angeles, California. Her commitment to social justice and organizing first began in San Francisco, California, where she worked as a community organizer, advocating for marginalized communities affected by gentrification. While completing her M.A. in Education at San Francisco State University, she taught college-preparatory courses in Oakland, providing mentorship and emotional support to help prepare first-generation highschool students for higher education.
Flor has taught in a wide range of non-traditional educational settings, working primarily with incarcerated youth, refugees, and students with special needs. She recently returned from five years abroad in Berlin, Germany, where she founded a community organization for asylum seekers, implementing cross-cultural strategies to integrate models of support for migrant women from Africa, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
Flor is interested in using creative arts and movement therapies as platforms for social change.
