The Teach New York: NYC Partnership for Teacher Excellence Scholarship will no longer be offered after Fall 2008.
The Teach New York: NYC Partnership for Teacher Excellence Scholarship is a unique opportunity that encourages students to pursue a teaching career in a high-need area at the secondary level. Students interested in teaching at the middle school level are particularly encouraged to apply. High-need areas are currently identified as mathematics and science. This competitive scholarship program seeks academically strong applicants who possess a commitment to teaching in the New York City public school system.
Selected candidates receive full tuition or generous scholarships (based on merit and need) towards the tuition cost of their degree program and participate in specialized mentoring, tutoring and placement activities as part of The New York City Partnership for Teacher Excellence, a unique partnership program among NYU, the City University of New York (CUNY) and the NYC Department of Education. In return for receiving scholarship support, candidates agree to teach for two years in a high-need content area in the New York City school system upon graduation.
