General Education Minor
The General Education Minor is open to College of Arts and Science, Gallatin, School of Social Work, Steinhardt, Stern and Tisch undergraduate students.
Through this 18 credit sequence of courses, you can explore a career in teaching and learn about important issues in education. These courses take you into public schools to meet teachers and work with them in their classrooms. You'll quickly learn if a career in teaching is for you.
While this option is not linked to a corresponding NYU Steinhardt teacher education masters degree these courses are part of the core requirements for all teachers and provide a head start should you decide to pursue your master's degree and teacher certification in the future.
The Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development's general education minor is outlined below. Please be advised that most of these courses require a fieldwork component consisting of classroom observation and participation.
