Foreign Language Education

NYU Steinhardt's Foreign Language Education programs prepare you to teach Chinese, French, Italian, Japanese, or Spanish to learners from diverse educational and ethnic backgrounds.

Based on communicative methods of second language pedagogy and a reflective model of teaching that incorporates collaboration with colleagues, students, and community, our programs give you a strong foundation in language, literacy, and applied linguistics, and an understanding of second language teaching approaches. We affirm the value of heritage languages and cultures, and take an additive view of second language acquisition.
