Anne Burgunder

Before joining NYU, Anne Burgunder spent the majority of her career as a mathematics teacher and staff developer for middle and high schools. Her work has spanned virtually all school settings, including public and private, urban and rural, religious and secular, and single-sex environments. Burgunder's most recent work has been in Sydney, Australia, and New York City Schools, where she has mentored teachers in curriculum and conceptual understanding of mathematics.

Burgunder is interested in the role of visual images in helping students learn mathematics, and various methods for teaching mathematics employed by other cultures. She received her MS in math leadership from Bank Street College in 1994, and is currently working on her PhD dissertation at the University of Plymouth Centre for Teaching Mathematics in Devon, England.
