CLTA 2012 GNY 10th Annual Conference: Global Perspectives in Chinese Language and Culture Instruction

Dr. Frank Tang wins the Lifetime Achievement Award!

On May 12, 2012, the CLTA-GNY annual conference was held at Hunter College, City University of New York, New York.

Dr. Frank Tang, the Co-Director of Multilingual, Multicultural Studies; Professor of TESOL, Bilingual Education, and Foreign Language Education; and Project Director of the Project for Developing Chinese Language Teachers (DCLT), was presented with an award by CLTA-GNY for “Outstanding Contribution to the Field of Chinese Language Teaching.”


A K-12 Chinese Teachers Roundtable: Challenges and Strategies

In the afternoon session, Dr. Tang and Robin Harvey led the panel of Aoshuang Jiang from Minzu University of China, and nine Chinese teachers, Yijue Sun, Zijie Hu, Ying Wu, Xuan Wang, Ammy Chau, Bing Qiu, Lumin Huang, and Anna Zhao. These panelists conducted a K-12 Chinese Teachers Round table, and talked about the challenges they face and the strategies they use in their schools. They introduced the development of the Chinese program in their schools respectively, and warmly exchanged ideas with the audience, including current students in the field of education, Chinese teachers, and several school administrators.
