Program of Study

We are no longer admitting students to this program. Please see our new Teacher Residency program, an MAT in Secondary Education that leads to eligibility for initial certification in teaching science to students in grades 7-12. 

The Clinically Rich Integrated Science Program (CRISP) MA leads to eligibility for New York State initial certification in teaching science (biology, chemistry, or physics) for Grades 7-12.

Length of Program

Students complete 35 credits through continuous study, commencing in the first summer and concluding in late June of the following year. While the residency component of the program starts in July with a three-week session, the majority of the residency program takes place from September through June, following the calendar of the public school year. 

Students are required to study full time in this program.

Degree Requirements

Students complete 12 credits in the practice of science teaching, 11 in science content, and 12 on core learning in special education, the learning sciences, literacy, and assessment. Some elements of the curriculum span more than one semester.
